Wanda Young is VP, Media, Digital and Partnership Marketing for Walmart. A marketing veteran with over 20 years of experience, Wanda joined Walmart in October 2008 to lead the company’s digital marketing efforts. Today she is responsible for the company’s media presence in traditional, digital and social channels. In this role, she is responsible for bringing Walmart’s “Save Money, Live Better” philosophy to life through integrated media programs that deliver added value and enhance customer experiences.
Having launched Walmart’s social media efforts, Wanda’s team now leads several programs to broaden this reach. She was instrumental in launching the Walmart Corporate Facebook page in October 2009 which now has over 34M fans as well as 4000 individual store pages. Her team runs social programs in Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube as well as the Walmart Moms blogger program.
Prior to joining Walmart, Wanda was the director of interactive marketing/online customer experience at Alltel Wireless, which was the fifth-largest wireless company before being acquired by Verizon Wireless in 2008. Wanda served as a corporate marketing web manager for Acxiom Corporation, a data services provider where she spearheaded an award-winning site redesign.
Wanda was named one of Advertising Age’s “Women to Watch” in 2009. Wanda is on the board of the Mobile Marketing Association.
Wanda resides in Bentonville, AR with her husband and two daughters.
